ON THE SAME SAME CONCEPT:
My painting of “Celeste” explores the space that emerges as we interact with others. I was particularly interested in how we often project aspects of ourselves and our perception of the world onto others. Fragmenting the painting I wanted to show the many different realities that exists simultaneously. As I painted I added colour to the black and white photograph. Although the colours were chosen as accurately as I could, they were more than anything a projection of my expectations and assumptions, the result of my experiences thus far. The final piece is the space between Celeste and me, a little bit of her and a little bit of me, something new.
